DESCRIPTION

Rating: 99 James Suckling

"Aromas of black liquorice, iodine and blackberries with hints of nutmeg. Medium to full bodied with great structure yet refined and fine. Extremely long and engaging with energy and refinement. The glacial soil and westerly orientation of the vineyard make it special." James Suckling

DESCRIPTION OF THE WINERY

In the department of Maipú, 30 kilometers from Mendoza, the capital of the most wine-producing province in Argentina, lies the bucolic setting of Cruz de Piedra, which the locals ironically call "the Republic of Chachingo." Adrianna Catena, a doctor in History from Oxford University and daughter of Nicolás Catena, owner of Catena Zapata, and Alejandro Vigil, a brilliant winemaker and technical director of his partner's family winery, established her winery project there in 2009. The young winery, named Aleanna, soon became better known by the name of its wines, El Enemigo.
