Matervini Imposibles Malbec 2022 is the single-vineyard Malbec that Matervini, the winery of Santiago Achával and Roberto Cipresso, makes in Salta. It comes from La Finca de los Viñedos Imposibles, in the Pucará district of Angastaco, in the Calchaquí Valleys, grown at 7,450 feet on decomposed granite soils. The name reflects how hard it is to farm grapes in such a remote and extreme place, among arid mountains. Yields are tiny: 1.0 ton per acre in 2022. The 2022 was harvested on February 24, 2022 and bottled on July 5, 2023, and only 122 cases were made.
